Goodbye

Imagen
Sadly, on october third our journey had ended. I woke up early in order to get everything ready, and then I said goodbye to my host family, who had treated me great in every way. After getting to Dublin came the worst part, say goodbye to our irish friends, some of them cried and others didn't, since it wasn't the last time seeing each other. Anyway, my student and I hugged and I told him to thanks the family for their gifts and everything they had done. Finally, after taking photos and waving goodbye we entered the airport on our way home. This experience was fantastic and I would choose to go again every single time. Thanks for everything.

Cliffs of Moher

On Saturday the 27th  we went to the cliffs of Moher. My host mother had asked me if I wanted to see something specific of Ireland and we had planned to go to the cliffs with some friends. I got ready and met my friends and the other irish students, then we went by car with my host mother and my friend's.  We arrived at the cliffs after eating at a restaurant, it was a very sunny day, quite rare in Ireland, but it surely made the view more magnificent, the cliffs were beautiful and we all enjoyed seeing them. Then, before going home, we went to buy some souvenirs and play in some kind of museum.

Cork

On Friday the 26th of september we didn't have class, so we went to Cork.  We went by train with other Erasmus students. When we arrives, we went to the marino market, where I bought a Gaa jersey amd we had lunch.  After that, my friends and I separated from the mami group to see Cork better, and we went to the English market and Saint Fin Barre's Cathedral. We also went to some shops and bought jewellery, clothes, etc. Then we met the others again and went to the train station to make our way back home.

Weekend

On my second sunday in Ireland I didn't have to go to a match, so finally, we didn't wake up early. Since it wasn't a rushed morning me and my partner went on a walk with the dog and he showed me a little around. After that, we went back home, and had a shower, got ready and had dinner with the family. Then my partner told me we were going rollerblading with friends. And so we went to the rollerblading place, were we met the other students and rented skates. There was music and disco lights, so it was kind of a retro experience and it was great.

Castle

On our evenings, I usually went to watch my partner's trainigns with other students, but there was one evening I did something more special. Since it was a cold day the family told me I didn't have to go to the trainign, so my plan was to stay at home. However, I hadn't been home for ten minutes when I received a call from my friend. Her host mum was going to a castle to dance and they had invited me to go.  Obviously, I said yes. Once we arrived we met the other dancers and we went backstage, where there was food. But then we received permission to go and watch the traditional dances in the main part of the castle. It was a wonderful experience.

Hurling

Sports have been a very important part in my Erasmus experience. Specially since my partner was a boy that took part in a lot of them.  I have seen a lot of matches of both hurling and gaelic football, and I usually stayed to watch the trainigns with other spanish students. The match that stood out the most for me was the under 15 hurling match, in which my partner's brother played. They won the match and had a huge celebration, since it was a final. The players took of their shirts, exited half their bodies outside the cars' windows, and waved their shirts while circulating on the road.

Ploughing

The ploughing Championship is a famous oudoor event celebrated in Ireland, and on our fifth day we went there. I woke up at 4:30 am and got ready, then waited with my partner for our ride to come. Then we got to the train station where we met our friends and I also met some of my partner's friends. We took two trains and a bus and then arrived to the ploughing. It was a masive display of tractors, stalls and little markets where all types of things were sold.  Also, ir was very muddy and we all wore wellies. We a lot of stalls and people bought jerseys, hurlys, slitters and many other things. Then at 6 pm we had to go back, unfortunatly, our train was postponed and we had to wair two extra hours. Anyway, it was a great day.
